2010 Club Drives & Events
The goal of our
Club Drives and Events is to allow more opportunities for SBMS members to enjoy
their cars with their fellow SBMS member enthusiasts on the
fantastic back roads of our lovely commonwealth. Drive times
are scheduled well in advance, which allows members to juggle schedules in a timely manner so they will be able
to participate. Additionally, multiple drives are
scheduled throughout the year so members won’t feel bad about missing a trip--we usually schedule one drive per month from April through October. If you have any questions about a scheduled drive/event please feel free to email the drive/event coordinator(s).

Lover's Leap Winery, Kentucky Gentlemen Cigar Company, and lunch in Versailles! |

The April drive started from a McDonald's located on Leestown road. From there we traveled on wonderful, winding roads
to our featured stop at Lover's Leap Winery in Lawrenceburg, KY, where we were able to take a tour of the facility and/or particpate in a wine tasting. Following the winery tour, we
continued to the Kentucky Gentlemen Cigar Co., well-known for their Mint Julep cigars. It was a very unique experience! The drive then continued to our lunch destination at Ricardo's in Versailles, KY. During the drive, we answered quiz questions about areas we passed along the way. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third place. |

In addition
to the Bluegrass British Bash held on May 1, we took another club drive down to the Maker's Mark Bourbon Distillery in Loretto, KY. Although the factory doesn't run on Saturdays, we were able to take a tour and have a bourbon tasting. All was good! |

The June drive started from the McDonald's on Leestown road and led us northwest to visit a private home. This unique home was contructed using mostly pre-used materials. Parts of the old barn that stood on the location were used as well as metal roofing from other demolished buildings. Following the tour of the home, we ventured down to Rebecca Ruth Candy Factory in Frankfurt, KY. Famous for their bourbon balls, we each got to sample one after the factory tour. Yum! We ended our drive in Midway, KY and had a wonderful lunch at Duggans. |

Concours d'Elegance at Keeneland |

Concours car shows don't get any better than Keeneland's. Please join us in the paddock area as we attend this wonderful
charity event. This unique four day event features over
130 exquisite automobiles on the historic grounds of the
Keeneland Race Course. All proceeds go to Kentucky
Children's Hospital. |

We will meet at 8:30 at the Naali Cafe on
Harrodsburg road and plan to leave for the drive at 9:00 am. The drive will culminate around 10:30 at the Bluegrass Railroad Museum at Falling Springs Park in Versailles. There we are offered a single free train ticket per car and are able to enter our cars into a non-classed car show at their annual Trains, Planes, Automobiles and Tractors show. Shortly before 2:00, we will depart for a delicious lunch at the Woodford Hills Country Club on McCowans Ferry Road, about 10 minutes away. |

This drive will incorporate an overnight stay in beautiful Gatlinburg, TN!
As always, we'll be taking the 'roads less traveled', so this
trip will not only be scenic, but LBC friendly!

Annual Christmas Party |

We have once again booked the Mount Sterling Country Club to
host our annual Christmas party. Plan on attending this
festive event! Please check back for details. |

For each of the drives, the
coordination of the route, start/end location, start/end time,
meals, events, places to see, accommodations, etc., are the
sole responsibility of the drive coordinator.
It is also expected that each drive/event coordinator will
write up a post-event summary of the their drive for the SBMS
newsletter article submitted to British Marque. It would also be
greatly appreciated if drive/event photographs could accompany
such an article. I’m sure that these volunteers can count on
others’ support as needed.
All drives will be held rain/snow or
shine. No rain/snow dates will be scheduled.
This list in no way precludes any member from putting
together additional rides! =)
