2009 Club Drives & Events
The goal of our
Club Drives and Events is to allow more opportunities for SBMS members to enjoy
their cars with their fellow SBMS member enthusiasts on the
enticing back roads of our lovely commonwealth. Since ride times
will be scheduled well in advance, it is hoped that members will
be able to juggle schedules in a timely manner so as to be able
to participate. Additionally, because so many rides have been
scheduled, members won’t feel so bad about missing a trip
because they will know that there will be another ride the
following month. If you have any questions about a scheduled
drive/event please feel free to email the drive/event
coordinator(s).

Wild Turkey Distillery Tour, Scenic Drive and lunch along the
way in Versailles! |
Ed and Carryl Howell |
The April drive started from Bob Evans restaurant on Buena
Vista Road (Winchester Road at I-75) at 9:00 a.m. Those
wanting breakfast arrived a bit earlier for some good
fellowship. The tour began with a jaunt through the new sections
of Hamburg Place. From there we traveled on familiar roads
to our featured stop at
Wild Turkey Distillery. Following the Distillery tour we
continued to lunch at
Cleveland's
Restaurant in Versailles. The drive was about 65 miles long with
a drive time of about 1 hour and 40 minutes not including the
time for the distillery tour (about an hour). Mark your
calendar and plan to join us for our next drive! |

Shaker Village |
Bill & Peg Dahlstrom |
Always a great
destination,
Shaker
Village of Pleasant Hill is America’s largest restored
Shaker community, with 34 carefully restored buildings and 3,000
acres of preserved farmland. The meeting/starting place
will be at the
Coffee Break Café, which is situated on the corner of
Harrodsburg Road and Lane Allen (directly opposite of the
Springs Inn). If you would like to join us for breakfast – get
there early as we will leave the restaurant at 9:30. This
should get us to the village at about 10:30. This should give
us plenty of time to see the village and attend, if you wish,
their annual antique fair going on that weekend. There will be a
$10 per individual entrance fee; we should go in as a group as
this is the "group fare". Also, lunch is on your own.
Please plan on joining us on this great drive
to
Shaker Village! |

festive event! Please check back for details. |

For each of the rides, the
coordination of the route, start/end location, start/end time,
meals, events, places to see, accommodations, etc, are the
sole responsibility of the ride coordinator.
It is also expected that each drive/event coordinator will
write up a post-event summary of the their drive for the SBMS
newsletter article submitted to British Marque. It would also be
greatly appreciated if drive/event photographs could accompany
such an article. I’m sure that these volunteers can count on
others’ support as needed. All rides will be held rain/snow or
shine. No rain/snow dates will be scheduled.
This list in no way precludes any member from putting
together additional rides! =)
