Welcome!
My name is Danny and I'm the President of the Sterling British Motoring
Society (SBMS) car club. I appreciate your interest in our
club and I thank you for visiting our website.
Our club has grown and become very active since its inception. In 2004
the club started a monthly club drive. These drives are scheduled every third (3rd) Saturday of the month, starting in April and running
through November rain or shine.
Some members attend car shows, though the majority of us just enjoy
driving our Little British Cars. On occasion a group of members will
attend a car show, generally in the Cincinnati or Louisville areas.
Additionally, the
club has become involved in the annual Keeneland Concours d'Elegance, which is becoming one of Kentucky's premier car shows. The event is held
at Keeneland each year and all proceeds benefit the Kentucky Children's Hospital.
The Club has only one fund raising effort each year, and it's pretty
much a big party. Our event is called the "Bluegrass British Bash" and
it is a three day event that is always held locally in
Lexington, KY,
during the weekend of the famous Kentucky Derby. We get attendees from
all over the mid-west and as far away as Florida and Canada.
Other annual events include the fish fry in
September, usually held the first Saturday after Labor Day, and the Christmas dinner in December.
The Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month at various locations around the area and the locations are either discussed at a previous meeting or announced via email.
One of the Club members has taken the responsibility for the web site
and has done a great job. Dues are Twenty ($20.00) per year for a family
membership. Membership includes two name badges and a subscription to
the British Marque newspaper. This newspaper contains newsletters from
British car clubs all across the Eastern U.S.
Though the club is active and does a lot, the best part of the Club is
its members. The Club has been blessed with a super group of folks and
all are engaged and ready to contribute. We pride ourselves on the absence of
formality and by-laws, and appreciate that we simply want to enjoy each
other's company and the common interest of driving our cars.
E-mails are sent out to keep Club members informed of Club events and the
members. If you would like to receive our e-mails for a while to check us
out please let me know.
I hope you will consider membership and I invite you to attend a Club
meeting and/or one of our monthly drives. I would encourage you to mark
your calendar for our annual Bluegrass British Bash event in May.
Shoot me an e-mail or give me a call if you have any questions.
